Northland Primary School was established in 1988 as a government co-educational school at 15 Yishun Avenue 4, officially opening on 17 April 1990. The school completed PERI upgrading in 2015 and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2018.
Northland is known for its international chess programme, which began as iC@N, an innovative initiative using chess to nurture strategic and critical thinking skills, before evolving into its current Applied Learning Programme, Skilling the Mind, Empowering the Thinking, in 2016. Its Learning for Life Programme, My Story, My Stage, builds students’ confidence through music and drama, showcased through the school’s biennial public performance, APPLAUSE. Students can also choose from a wide range of CCAs, from Handbell Ensemble and String Ensemble to International Chess and Wushu, with dedicated support available for students with special educational needs.
