Jiemin Primary School’s name originates from two traditional Chinese schools, Jiegu and Quanmin, which operated in Bukit Merah before closing in 1984. The school began operations at 2 Yishun Street 71 in January 1985, serving as a holding site for classes from Peixin and West Hill Primary Schools before it was officially opened in 1987.
The school’s Applied Learning Programme, Journalist-in-Making (JiM), develops students’ critical thinking and communication skills through activities such as reporting real-time news during school events, while its Learning for Life Programme, Aesthetics Alive, nurtures music and art appreciation through structured curricula. Students can also choose from a wide range of CCAs, from Guzheng Ensemble and Taekwondo to Robotics and Journalism, with dedicated support available for students with special educational needs.
