Huamin Primary School

Huamin Primary School derives its name from Hua Mien Primary School, established in 1945 in the rural Sembawang area at Jalan Ulu Sembawang. The modern Huamin Primary School opened its doors in Yishun New Town in 1987, holding classes at temporary premises at Northland Primary School before moving to its current site at 21 Yishun Avenue 11 in 1989 and officially opening on 22 November 1991.

In 2007, Huamin became the Centre of Excellence for Visual Arts in the North 3 Cluster, and its Learning for Life Programme, the Creative Arts Programme for Students (C.A.P.S.), builds on this focus on visual arts and design. Notably, Huamin was recognised as the first UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network School in Singapore in November 2014, an honour affirming its efforts in the arts, culture, and environmental sustainability. Students can also choose from a wide range of CCAs, from Guitar Ensemble and Ceramics to Robotics and Hockey.
